BOOK THE TEA MAVEN
Meet Dr. Janet Walsh, a true tea aficionado and advocate for wellness, harmony, and community through the art of tea. With a passion for exploring tea culture and its benefits, she has embarked on countless journeys across the United States and various countries, including Canada, Asia, Europe, and South America. As an educator and librarian, Dr. Walsh has found inspiration in books, travel, and tea, all of which have opened her eyes to the fascinating world of communal meals, culinary rituals, and cultural communication.
But Dr. Walsh's love affair with tea began with a simple desire—to impress someone she had a crush on. She delved into recipe books, experimented with flavors, and shared her concoctions with friends at a Sunday supper club. These adventurous souls, lovingly referred to as her "guin-tea-pigs," gathered together, sipped the blends, and relished each unique taste. It wasn't long before Dr. Walsh found herself preparing tea for dinner parties of 25 and even grand wedding celebrations with 600 guests.
Throughout her tea journey, Dr. Walsh noticed a remarkable phenomenon: the power of tea to foster conversation, interaction, and communal connections. As a seasoned traveler, she observed how tea brought people from diverse backgrounds together, transcending religious beliefs, age differences, opinions, and political affiliations.
This realization propelled Dr. Walsh to incorporate tea into every aspect of her professional and personal life. She witnessed college students bonding over tea and reciting passages from British literature. In her work at the library, she noticed that a short afternoon tea break increased productivity and research efficiency. Furthermore, she experienced the transformative effect of tea when loved ones in conflict were willing to sit down, listen, and seek resolution over a shared cup. This inspired her to facilitate tea time for circle practices, peacemaking, and conflict resolution.
For nearly two decades, Dr. Walsh has dedicated herself to being a tea host, manners and etiquette consultant, and advocate for people of all ages. She has orchestrated over 2,000 tea parties in various settings, including homes, tea rooms, preschools, K-12 schools, colleges and universities, event centers, churches, and corporate environments. Beyond providing elegant and memorable tea party experiences, she imparts valuable training on the foundations of hospitality, civility, and proper etiquette.
As the Founder of Tea Tea and Company, National Tea Institute, and National Afternoon Tea Month, Dr. Janet Walsh continues to spread her passion for tea, inviting others to embrace its transformative power. With her unwavering dedication, she seeks to create a world where tea becomes a catalyst for connection, respect, and shared experiences that transcend boundaries. Join her in celebrating the art of tea and the joy it brings to our lives.
