Meet The Tea Maven

A cup of tea. A welcoming table. A meaningful connection.
Meet Dr. Janet Walsh, The Tea Maven and founder of Tea Tea and Company and National Afternoon Tea Month. Janet brings together her love of tea, education, and hospitality to help people gather, learn, and connect.
It started with a little curiosity
Janet’s tea journey began with a desire to impress someone she had a crush on. Recipe books, experiments with flavor, and a Sunday supper club soon followed. Her friends became her affectionate “guin-tea-pigs,” tasting blends and sharing conversation around the table.
What began with friends grew into tea gatherings for dinner parties and wedding celebrations. Along the way, Janet discovered what would become the heart of her work: tea gives people a reason to pause, listen, and connect.
Tea is the invitation. Connection is the purpose.
As an educator and librarian, Janet has drawn inspiration from books, travel, and the ways different cultures gather around shared meals. Her work brings that curiosity to tea experiences, hospitality, manners, and civility.
She has hosted tea gatherings in homes, schools, colleges and universities, churches, and corporate settings. Whether the occasion is a celebration, a learning experience, or time to share memories, her approach centers on making people feel welcome.
