Can tea protect you from COVID-19? The answer to this cannot be an assured yes. According to experts, there is limited evidence that hot drinks can treat coronavirus infections. It is clear that hot drinks, including tea, cannot be used as the only treatment modality for the treatment of COVID but can be used as an alternative treatment.  While tea has been a socially accepted beverage worldwide since times immemorial, it has earned skyrocketing acceptance in the current times of pandemic. During flu and cold, it is essential to keep yourself hydrated in conditions of flu and cold. Hot beverages aid in soothing congestion and breaking up sore throats.

However, tea can help you in other immense ways. Whether it is black tea, ginger tea, or any other type, it can help you soothe in cold and flu, particularly during the COVID season.  

Just like washing hands, using sanitizers, and maintaining social distance is crucial, adding tea to your daily dietary routine is essential. Here are some points on how drinking tea daily can help you with cold and flu symptoms.

Tea can serve as a great immunity booster. Rich in antioxidants, tea can help you fight free radicals and keep your body's defense system at its top. Having a cup or two of tea with added honey can powerfully thrust your body's immunity to fight infection harder.

Tea polyphenols are considered as potential candidates for the prevention of COVID-19. These have been found to inhibit certain viruses from replicating and entering into cells.

While tea cannot be used as a primary tool for fighting and treating the novel coronavirus, it can serve as an adjuvant to help ease the cold and flu symptoms.
